On 13 July 2000, Fisheries and Oceans Canada, the BC Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Fisheries and the BC Ministry of Water, Land and Air Protection signed the Canada-B.C. Fish Habitat Management Agreement. The Agreement provides for improved coordination between the two levels of government on projects designed to improve fish habitat protection in the province. The agreement is intended to reduce duplication, increase coordination, and develop co-operative arrangements related to fish habitat. The agreement was negotiated and signed by the Canada-BC Council of Fisheries Ministers, established under the Canada-British Columbia Agreement on the Management of Pacific Salmon Fishery Issues.
